Level 3: Diploma in Adult Health Care
Level 3 Diploma in Adult Health Care (RQF) is aimed at those learners with supervisory experience who are already working within the care sector, such as a lead adult care worker, lead personal assistant, etc. This qualification recognises the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed to demonstrate effective communication, person development, values and behaviours, health and wellbeing, responsibilities of self and others, and safeguarding. A lead adult care worker will make a positive difference to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional, or intellectual challenges. They will be expected to exercise judgement and take appropriate action to support individuals to maintain their independence, dignity, and control. By providing leadership, guidance, and direction at the front line of care delivery, they will be instrumental in improving the health and wellbeing of those receiving care and support. Lead adult care workers will, in some circumstances, have delegated responsibility for the standard of care provided and may supervise the work of other care workers. By exercising autonomy and accountability, they will lead and support others to comply with expected standards and behaviours. Lead adult care workers may work in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres, or other clinical healthcare settings.
Level 4 : Diploma in Adult Health Care
Level 4 Diploma in Adult Health Care (RQF) is aimed at learners working in a variety of senior adult care roles within, but not limited to, residential care, domiciliary care, or day centres. Those working towards achieving a Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care will have, and develop further, specialist skills and knowledge in their area of responsibility which enables them to lead in areas such as assessment or enablement. Learners will have responsibility for assessing performance and quality of care delivery. Their team members will look to them for inspiration, and they will provide coaching and mentoring to their colleagues. Learners could work in a variety of settings in adult social care, including, but not limited to, residential care, domiciliary care, or day centres. The qualification would also be suitable for Lead Personal Assistants who work as part of a Personal Assistant team at a senior level
Level 5 : Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England) (RQF) is aimed at developing the skills, knowledge, and understanding of learners to the standards required to confirm competence in an occupational role to manage, practice, and lead others in adult health and social care provision or in children and young people’s services. The Focus Awards Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England)(RQF) is aimed at managers and advanced practitioners working in health and social care and children and young people’s services. This qualification includes optional pathways in management, residential services, and advance practice.
Qualification Structure. Learners must complete a maximum of 90 credits including 30 credits from the mandatory units, and a minimum of 60 credits from one of the pathways, in order to achieve the Focus Awards Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (England) (RQF).
Learner Entry Requirements. Learners must hold a Level 3 qualification or above in a related area. Learners should be competent in literacy and numeracy, this is at the discretion of the centre as they may decide to use diagnostic testing methods to ascertain how they can support learners.
Progression Routes. Learners wishing to progress from this qualification can undertake a degree in a related discipline. Potential job roles on completion of this qualification include.
