Emergency First Aid at Work Course Content
The Level 2 Emergency First Aid at Work Training Course is 1 day long and prepares you to respond correctly in emergency situations.
The EFAW Training covers the following topics:
- Taking charge and summoning help
- Priorities in First Aid
- Controlling Bleeding
- Epilepsy
- Poisoning
- Burns and Scalds

Please note that this training does not make you a qualified First Aider. To become qualified, you will need to pass the practical assessment.
Qualification in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is one of 4 first aid qualifications that are classed as a requirement for other kinds of roles.
EFAW is designed for low-risk workplaces, such as offices or smaller retail stores – high-risk places like factories, construction sites, and warehouses require security professionals with the more in-depth First Aid at Work qualification
However, the EFAW course is still very comprehensive, giving you the first aid skills you need to stay compliant for your SIA license – and it only takes a day to complete.
The EFAW course will also introduce you to health and safety regulations that help you to prevent incidents proactively.
You’ll also learn emergency situation management. That lets you know how to communicate with the casualty – as well as advise people around you and report the incident to medical professionals.
EFAW course training takes place in person, in a classroom. Once you get your EFAW qualification, it lasts for 3 years before needing renewal.
